Uninstall IE7 beta 2 as a different user

I was deadlocked by a crazy feature of Internet Explorer 7 and one of its Known incompatiblities with McAfee. A friend of mine borrowed my system and updated it to IE7 Beta 2. When he returned it back to me I deleted the temporary admin user I created for him.

I was happy with its features, untill I discovered that I cant access anything in my McAfee Security centre. Googling a bit I reached IE release notes which says:

McAfee products may display a blank window when IE7 B2P is installed. This is a known issue and we’re working on a fix for the next public release.

Bummer !! I tried unistalling IE as myself and it will always deny saying
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview cannot be uninstalled from this user account. Please log on to the same user account from which it was installed and try again.

The only option left with me, since I had already deleted the other user, was a Clean reinstall of WinXP. But then I discovered in folder "C:\WINDOWS\$NtUninstallie7bet2p$\spuninst" an inf file which has some sort of coded uninstall procedure. The interesting thing in this was the Registry Key InstalledByUser. Googling for it I reached this forum which tells you how to get past this.

* Open regedit
* goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
* Right click and create new key InstalledByUser with a value 0x00000000.

There you go IE won't complain about the user. What a relief!!!
